How to Use Excel Customize Format to Change Numbers Into Phone Numbers
When using Excel to manage your data, you may need to use the Customize Format feature to format cells. This provides greater control over numeric data. For example, it allows you to center a value across several cells. You can also apply custom formatting to table calculations and visualizations.
There are a number of predefined number formats you can use to display numbers. Each number format affects the appearance of a number but does not change the value. These include General, Percentage, Date and Time.
The General format is the default number format. It is used by most versions of Microsoft Excel. In general, the general format uses spaces to separate digits. Often, the comma, hyphen, and dot are used as separators.
Alternatively, you can create your own number format. If you want to create a custom format, you can follow the examples in the next section.
Excel has built-in number formats. You can select a specific number format to use and then type a value into the cell. After typing the value, you can format it with the format.
You can also modify existing predefined formats. For instance, you can use the Decrating Decimal icon to format numbers with more decimal places. Or, you can choose to use the Number format instead of the Percentage one.
Another format option is the Text format. This format will display a little green triangle in cells that have been formatted incorrectly. However, you will need to select the cell that is incorrectly formatted.
